Silence

Under the Positive Guidelines, I listed to sit in silence for 10 minutes every day. It may sound simple, but for most people it isn’t. We are constantly on the go and have so many things running through our heads. Yet that gives us even more of a reason to give our minds a short break to calm down – even if it is in the car with the radio off or waking up extra earlier like I do. Every morning, I set my alarm a little earlier before anyone else wakes up; I have breakfast, get ready and lay down for a few minutes before I have to head out. No television, no radio, just pure silence. Those few minutes give me time to reflect, relax and prepare for the sometimes hectic day ahead.

“True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment” -William Penn
